Robert
Aqqaluk Newlin, Sr. recognized that in a changing world, young people must not
only have a strong cultural identity, but must also be educated and well prepared
for jobs and careers. Robert Newlin always encouraged young people to continue
with their education and bring their skills and knowledge back to their people.

the region to pursue levels of educational and vocational achievement which they
might not otherwise have sought.

will be issued based on a variety of criteria, including an applicant's demonstrated
commitment to Inupiaq values, prior academic performance, financial need, and
recommendations from others.
