Camp Job Descriptions

 

Elder Advisor:
Advise and work with Camp Coordinator and staff. Assist Elders with teaching and understanding. Share and teach Inupiat Values, story telling, etc...

 

 


Beading/Sewing Instructor:
Teach basic beading and sewing techniques.

 

 





Survival/Hunting Instructor:
Teach basic survival and hunting techniques. Know where and where not to camp. Teach traditional hunting ways, such as setting animal spirits free.




 


Head Cook : Prepare all meals including traditional food preparation.

 

 

 

Counselors: Supervise campers. Provide assistance with all classes.

 

 




Licensed Boat Driver: Works at the camp providing boat rides back and forth from Noorvik and Kotzebue. On call for emergencies at the camp. Takes students out to check nets and gather native foods. Provides rides to get supplies and water.
