Pakak Terms of Services
Opting In
Users opt into using Aqqaluk Trust’s Pakak application by texting our phone number with the word “Start”. (See example image.) When you opt into our texting campaigns with the Pakak application, you will receive text messages (SMS/MMS) to your mobile number. The messages that we send you include information about Aqqaluk Trust and its activities, such as Sivu Summer.
After you submit a file (images or audio files), messages may also ask you questions about the submitted file for the community archive managed by Aqqaluk Trust. These questions about the submitted file will help us better understand and represent the item you submit to the archive.

Opting Out
You can opt-out of this service at any time. To opt out, text “STOP” to the phone number. (See example image.) After you text “STOP” to us, we may send you an SMS reply to confirm that you have been unsubscribed. After this, you will no longer receive SMS messages from us. If you want to join again, just sign up as you did the first time, or text “START” or “JOIN” and we will start sending SMS messages to you again.

Sharing Permissions & Sharing Scope of Submitted Files to Aqqaluk Trust
By default, any images that you submit to Aqqaluk Trust also gives Aqqaluk Trust permission to share those images with the public. By public, we will only share user submitted archival items via any of Aqqaluk Trust’s informational materials or future potential websites, such as aqqaluktrust.com, or texting campaigns created by Aqqaluk Trust or its affiliated partners and organizations, such as NANA Regional Corporation and The Rematriation Project. However, users reserve the right to remove or delete their submitted images by contacting Aqqaluk Trust directly at aqqaluk.trust@aqqaluktrust.com.

Content Guidelines
Aqqaluk Trust reserves the right to remove any user-submitted content, if it does not meet the scope of the project, as decided by Aqqaluk Trust.

Wireless Carrier Disclaimer
Please note that wireless carriers, such as GCI, are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Message and data rates may apply for any messages sent to you from us and to us from you. Depending upon how often you submit an item to Pakak, you should expect to receive at least 8-10 messages from us per month for each submitted item.
